At least 26 people died on Monday, when a truck was blown up by an improvised explosive device in the state of Borno, northeast Nigeria, near the border with Cameroon, according to a military source and a resident of the area who spoke to the French agency. The Borno state is a stronghold and Boko Haram’s cradle, the jihadist uprising of which has cost over 40,000 people in the last fifteen years and has uprooted two million inhabitants in the most populous country of Africa. “Twenty -six people were killed in the explosion, sixteen men, four women and six children,” said an army officer, who asked not to be named because he had not received permission from his hierarchy to express himself for the incident.
