One newborn was abandoned In a vague lot in the municipality of Angelândia, Minas Gerais, on the morning of last Saturday (19). The male baby was found with full left ear amputation, left and partial foot of the right foot after being attacked by dogs.
According to information from the Military Police, the child was located by neighbors who found her crying and being attacked by dogs. The neighbors managed to scare the animals and trigger the help.
The baby received the first calls from the municipal polyclinic team and, due to the severity of the injuries, was sent from a critical helicopter to the João XXIII Hospital in Belo Horizonte.
Military Police identified a 16 -year -old as the main suspicion of being the child’s mother. Initially, the young woman denied pregnancy and childbirth, a situation that, according to reports, was hidden from the family, but medical examinations confirmed signs of recent delivery.
At the teenager’s house, the military found a towel and a bloodstained mattress, as well as recent cleaning signs.
Witnesses told police that Sebastião Gomes Pereira, the 39-year-old stepfather, and Waldecina Batista de Souza, 36-year-old mother, who are the child’s grandparents, observed the abandoned newborn in the lot, but chose to leave the place without any help.
The child’s grandparents informed agents that they did not know their daughter’s pregnancy and are also investigated for involvement in the crime. Both were arrested in the act for attempted qualified homicide.
According to the Court of Justice, after the custody hearing on Sunday afternoon (20), the arrest in the act of grandparents was converted into pre -trial detention.
According to the Civil Police, in addition to the arrested grandparents, the teenager was also taken to give testimony at the 3rd State Center of the Digital Duty.
After being heard, she was seized for an infraction analogous to the crime of attempted qualified homicide and awaits the decision of the prosecutor about her possible hospitalization. The Civil Police are still investigating the case.
