New Year's Eve in Copacabana: check out the full schedule

One of the most traditional New Year's Eve parties in Brazil takes place on Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro. Below we list its main attractions at the turn of 2023 to 2024.

The beach in the south of the capital of Rio de Janeiro will have two stages, one in front of the Hotel Copacabana Palace and the other close to Rua República do Peru.

In the first, more eclectic, Luisa Sonza, Gloria Groove, Ludmilla, Nattan and the samba school Imperatriz Leopoldinense will perform.

In the second, dedicated to samba, there will be shows by Teresa Cristina, Jorge Aragão, Diogo Nogueira, Belo and the Unidos do Viradouro samba school.

The two stages will have programming starting with DJs, at 5:30 pm on the 31st. The shows should start at 8 pm.

This New Year's Eve will, for the first time, have an orchestra — conducted by conductor Ludhymila Bruzzi — providing the soundtrack for New Year's Eve, in the last minutes of 2023. A luminous drone show will also be held.

The party's honoree will be São Paulo singer Rita Lee, who died in May 2023. The orchestra will perform an instrumental version of the song “Ovelha Negra”.

In addition to Copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro will have ten more stages spread throughout the city, with various attractions.

This New Year's Eve fireworks display in Copacabana will take place from ten ferries and will last 12 minutes, as promised by the city hall of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
