New speakeasy The S. rescues the atmosphere of the 1950s in downtown SP

Inside Italian Circolo historic destination in the central region of São Paulo, the newest speakeasy of the city opens its doors. At the The S. the speakers play the best of jazz, blues and soul, while the bar prepares classic and signature drinks, which are the big stars of the house.

With a capacity for up to 80 people, the place – of course – is influenced by the Italian-American culture, especially from the rat pack, group of artists led by Frank Sinatra that stirred American culture and bohemia in the 1950s.

O The S. is yet another venture by a group of friends in love with downtown São Paulo, who founded GIBCON, which has been working on the revitalization of spaces such as the “Circolo Cucina” restaurant and which has more than a decade of experience in the field of bars, events , concerts, beach clubs and restaurants.

And one of the most striking features of the speakeasy is its location, in a historic building in the heart of São Paulo. With decoration that rescues the charm of the time, it offers the ideal environment for happy hour or for live music nights.

To complement the “secret bar” atmosphere, access is via a wall with photos of Italian dishes, where the customer points to the QR Code and needs to enter a password combination for the wall to open.

However, this is just a joke, as any customer – who knows the address – can access the bar, which is on the first floor of the building.

The drinks menu is commanded by Bruno Medeiros and has nine authorial preparations, including Fly Me to The Moon – The Botanist Gin (passion fruit syrup, grenadine, passion fruit foam and tonic – R$ 68); o It Had to Be You (gin infused with Sicilian lemon and juniper, Carpano Bianco, pomegranate syrup, sugar syrup and clarified foam 0 R$ 48); or Under My Skin – Jack Daniels (reduction of honey and pineapple, agave syrup, Sicilian lemon and Angostura – R$ 48), among others.

The menu also has a good selection of Negronis, such as the Smoked Negroni, the classic but smoked version (R$48), and The Rat Pack, the version aged for a month in oak barrels (R$42).

To satisfy hunger, the menu signed by the chef Aldryn Sussmann offers a list of stuzzichini – snacks – such as duck croquette (R$ 48), pastrami on a stick with Dijon mustard, buffalo mozzarella and cucumber pickles (R$ 42), gravlax canapé – cured salmon with Sicilian lemon fraiche on ciabatta bread (R$ 48), cold cuts (R$ 60), pinsa romana in three flavors (R$ 38), among other items.
