New “Game of Thrones” spin-off will have “very different tone”, says writer

One new spin-off of “Game of Thrones” should arrive on HBO next year. The program will be an adaptation of the series of short stories “The Adventures of Dunk and Egg”, written by George RR Martin and set in the same universe as Westeros.

At the moment, the author and HBO are working on adapting the first book in the series: “The Hedge Knight” (which in Brazil was called “The Walking Knight”).

“Things are going well with our Dunk and Egg spin-off,” wrote George RR Martin himself in his blog. “Most of the auditions – not all, but most – have already been completed and we should be announcing a few more cast members soon.”

“'The Hedge Knight' will be much shorter than 'Game of Thrones' or 'House of the Dragon', with a very different tone… but it's still Westeros, so no one is really safe,” the author wrote.

George added that if this adaptation is a success, the other books in the series ('The Sworn Sword' and 'The Mystery Knight') should also be adapted for the screen soon after.

Child actor Dexter Sol Ansell will play one of the series' protagonists, Egg, and shared a video shaving his head for it. Look:
