New cyclone should form in RS and cause heavy rain and winds of up to 60 km/h

A new extratropical cyclone should form in Rio Grande do Sul and cause heavy rains and winds of up to 60 km/h in the southern region this week. According to Climatempo, the phenomenon should form on Wednesday (26).

The cyclone will form on the coast of the southern part of the state, close to the border with Uruguay. Cities in the region — such as Bagé, Rio Grande and Pelotas — should be targeted by up to 60 mm on Tuesday. The system will also cause rain and winds in Santa Catarina and Paraná.

On Thursday (27) and Friday (28), the phenomenon should move away to the sea and allow for more stability in the weather in Rio Grande do Sul. In the other states of southern Brazil, the forecast for these days is for moderate rain.

Climatempo warns, however, that this cyclone is milder than the previous one. “This cyclone should not cause winds as intense as the last one that acted over southern Brazil, but gusts ranging from 40 to 60km/h are forecast over most of Rio Grande do Sul”, says the company in a note.
