Netanyahu rejects Hamas demand to end war in exchange for hostages

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed strong opposition to the demands made by Yahya Sinwar, leader of Hamas, in the ongoing negotiations for the release of hostages.

“While Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly given the negotiating team a sweeping order to release our hostages, Sinwar continues to demand an end to the war, the withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces from the Gaza Strip and that Hamas remain intact. , so that it can repeat the atrocities of October 7th,” said the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu is strongly opposed to this. The negotiating team’s instructions only harden Hamas’ position, harm families, and delay the release of our hostages.”

Netanyahu's comments were made before this Sunday's (26) war cabinet meeting, which is underway.
