“The dilemma of the next elections will be ‘Renewal and a new ethos or one of the same'”, said the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, speaking a while ago on the program “Mismatches” on the TV station SKAI.
Mr. Androulakis accused both the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the leader of the main opposition, Alexis Tsipras, of unreliability, calling for their disapproval in the next elections.
To a question about the possibility of post-election cooperation with the ND, he replied “I am fighting for a strong mandate so that a government with a Social Democracy core emerges”. “I am asking for the vote of the citizens to overthrow a system of government that in the long run does not help the people,” he added.
He also announced that next week the main axes of PASOK’s program will be presented, while when asked if Evangelos Venizelos and other famous officials will be included in the party’s ballots, he noted: “It will be anyone who wishes to fight for the faction. My priority is to grow PASOK”.
Responding to persistent questions as to whether his position remains unchanged that neither Mr. Mitsotakis nor Mr. Tsipras can be prime minister in cooperation governments, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, spoke of a distortion of his position and stated that what he has he says: “We will not choose a prime minister. The people will choose him. I said that if the people disapprove of them, I will not throw them out the window.”
Mr. Androulakis spoke of the Prime Minister’s Waterloo in his recent presence at the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, in contrast to his positive presence at the Congress, as he did not formulate any message about the future of Europe. At the same time, he severely criticized Mr. Mitsotakis for the stance he took at the recent NATO Summit and accused him of accepting the narrative of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In fact, he called on the prime minister to veto the EU arms sales to Turkey.
