As stated by the President and CEO of the Company, Ev. Mytileneos in the introductory note of the 2021 Sustainable Development Report, “is the driving force through which the Company aspires to remain competitive over time, to face modern challenges and, by developing appropriate partnerships, to contribute to a new efficient growth model, without social exclusions, as reflected through the Global Sustainable Development Goals. Based on this direction, we aim to create long-term sustainable value, for our shareholders and other groups of our Social Partners, through a holistic approach to the exercise of our activity, which combines securing jobs, industrial development and profitability always in terms of social and environmental sustainability”.
The 2021 Sustainable Development Report focuses on:
1) in the analysis of the way MYTILINEOS manages each material matter Sustainable Development during the exercise of its activity,
2) at significant progress in its wider performanceas evaluated by international organizations based on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteriawhich is confirmed by corresponding distinctions such as the recognition of MYTILINEOS by Sustainalytics – one of the most important and respected ESG Raters worldwide – as one of the “Top Industrial Companies” for its ESG performance,
3) on progress against the climate goals supported by 10 key initiatives and 50 individual actions in all Business Sectors of the Company,
4) in approach and the Company’s significant contribution to the Global Sustainable Development Goals (2030 agenda),
5) in integration of international standards Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB),
6) at new Sustainable Development governance system of the Company with a key element being the creation of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Board of Directors as well as the General Directorate of Sustainable Development and Corporate Governance,
7) in analysis of important elements of the Company’s activities based on the eligibility criteria of the European Taxonomy for sustainable investments (EU Taxonomy),
8) in production and distribution of a social product worth €2.3 billionas well as the overall contribution of the Company to the national economy and employment.
