#MyElf: the new Christmas challenge of the stars

Elves have also appeared in the homes of the stars, to become a catchphrase on social media: #myelf is the hashtag of the moment on Instagram, with which many characters from cinema, TV, the world of music show the images with which they are taking part in one of the funniest Christmas challenge (you see them in the gallery above).

The challenge takes inspiration from Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition, a cult book for children in the United States. It tells of the elves who, during the holidays (usually after Thanksgiving), watch over children’s homes during the day, go to the North Pole at night to tell Santa Claus everything they do, and when they return they make little treats.

This is where the game was born that many mothers and fathers do at Christmas: they invent little pranks that they then blame the elves, and put the puppet that represents them in the most unthinkable places in the house.

The challenge of the stars is none other than the game in social and virtual form, which also takes up the idea of the rhyme of “Elf on the shelf” (which means “elf on the shelf”): the VIPs who participated used Photoshop to “stick” a famous person with a name that rhymes with their own on the shoulder.

Starting with Mariah Carey, the queen of Christmas carols: alongside the Grinc played by Jim Carrey (which rhymes with Carey), and then Reese Witherspoon with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta in Grease (which rhymes with Grease), but also Cara Delevigne with Queen Elizabeth (The Queen and Delevingne sound similar) or Elisabeth Banks with Tom Hanks.
