The series “My Lady Jane” is the new romance bet on the Prime Video streaming platform. Inspired by best-selling book of the same name is radical reinterpretation of a moment in the history of British royalty. The seven episodes will be available on June 27th.
“My Lady Jane” features Edward, son of King Henry VIII, and Lady Jane Grey, not dying of tuberculosis and decapitation, respectively, as happened in real life.
At the center of the series, Jane is a bright and somewhat hard-headed young woman who becomes queen overnight and finds herself a target of other nobles who want her crown (and her head).
“Prepare yourself for the tragic story of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded in 1553… F*ck it. We are retelling the story as it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alternate universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy and romance,” says a press release from Prime Video.

The cast is led by newcomer Emily Bader in the role of Jane Grey. Edward Bluemel (“Killing Eve”) is Guildford Dudley, Jordan Peters (“Pirates”) plays King Edward. Dominic Cooper (“Preacher”) plays Lord Seymour, Anna Chancellor (“Pennyworth”) plays Jane’s mother Lady Frances Gray, and Rob Brydon (“The Trip”) plays Lord Dudley, Guildford’s father. Jim Broadbent (“The Duke”) plays the Duke of Leicester, Jane’s uncle.
The cast also includes Máiréad Tyers (“Extraordinary”), Joe Klocek (“The Dry”) and Michael Workeye (“This is Going to Hurt”).
