South African businessman Elon Musk arrived this Friday morning (20) in Brazil for a meeting with President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The meeting will take place today in Porto Feliz, in the interior of São Paulo.
The plane with Musk landed around 9 am in Itu.
In a broadcast on social networks on Thursday (19), Bolsonaro announced that he will leave “for São Paulo, where we have a meeting tomorrow.” [hoje] with a person recognized around the world, who comes to help our Amazon.”
“I will have a good team of ministers with me”, continued the Chief Executive.
The forecast is that the meeting between Bolsonaro and Musk will take place around 12 pm. The South African is the richest person in the world.
On April 25, Musk announced the purchase of Twitter for $44 billion. However, last Friday (13), he suspended negotiations with the social network.
Moments later, the businessman claimed to maintain his commitment to the agreement. According to the billionaire, there was the interruption “to await pending details that support the calculation that spam/fake accounts actually represent less than 5% of users”.
Communications Minister Fábio Faria told CNN that he is putting his chips in the end of the ban on Twitter users, following Musk’s offer.
“With him, no one will be banned,” said Faria. The politician said he still does not believe that the negotiation will impact the elections in Brazil.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO declared that he would reverse former US President Donald Trump’s ban on the application. The comment was made on May 10 during a speech at a Financial Times conference on the future of cars.
