“Municipal elections are democratic”, says the president of Serbia – Serious complaints from the opposition

Aleksandar Vucic argued that the municipal elections held on June 2 were democratic and their result fully reflects the will of the people. “Such results have never happened in the history of Serbia and I believe they will not happen, especially not in local elections. Even in national elections it is difficult to expect anyone to achieve such dominance. I thank the citizens for this support,” Vucic said in an interview on public television (RTS). The coalition led by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), whose ballot carried the name of Aleksandar Vucic, prevailed in municipal elections held in 68 cities, taking power in all but four municipalities dominated by minority parties.
