MtGox lenders must register and choose a repayment method by January 10, 2023, otherwise the compensation procedure will be delayed and refunds will be made in Japanese yen.
The trustee of the MtGox exchange hacked in 2014, Nobuaki Kobayashi, announced a change in the compensation plan. It asks creditors to choose a repayment method, submit recipient information, and indicate how they want to receive their payouts. The deadline for applications is January 10, 2023.
Kobayashi noted that those who do not complete the registration process before the deadline will not be able to receive payments in the form of an early lump sum repayment. The Bitstamp exchange has been appointed MtGox’s trusted company to assist in debt repayment procedures to creditors. Area published detailed instructions for registering and returning digital assets.
This is the third time the reimbursement period has been postponed. Previously, the trustee of MtGox said that affected users must apply for compensation no later than September 14, 2022, and the redemption procedure must begin on September 15, according to the ruling of the Tokyo District Court.
