MT Assembly removes prosecutor for killing a homeless man

The Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) dismissed, on Monday (14), the lawyer and prosecutor of the house, Luiz Eduardo Figueiredo Rocha e Silva, investigated for the murder of 42-year-old Ney Muller Alves Pereira, who was homeless. Last Wednesday (9), in Cuiabá, the man was shot dead in the face.

The decision was published by the president of ALMT, Max Russi (PSB) in the State Official Gazette. He was dismissed by the Brazilian Bar Association-Mato Grosso Section (OAB-MT). In the Legislative House, Luiz Eduardo had the base salary of R $ 44,024.52, as pointed out by the Transparency Portal.

The investigated was arrested on Thursday (10), after performing with his lawyers at the police station. Judge João Bosco Soares da Silva determined at the custody hearing that, as the suspect is a lawyer, Luiz Eduardo should be sent to Major Eldo de Sá Corrêa, Rondonópolis, about 200 kilometers from the capital, where there is adequate structure for him.

The defense of the man states that the crime was not premeditated or that it was an execution. According to the author of the perpetrator, Ney would have damaged his vehicle and other customers from a gas station near where the murder occurred.

Safety cameras images show the moment when man is called and then falls when he was shot in his face. The Military Police were called around 9 pm to attend an incident on Edgar Vieira Avenue, next to the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT).
