Economist and activist João Pedro Stedile, from the national leadership of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), announced that the movement will carry out “land occupations” in all states of Brazil throughout the month of April.

“There will be mobilizations in all states, in all states, be it marches, vigils, land occupations, the thousand and one ways to pressure that the law, that the Constitution be applied, and that unproductive latifundia be expropriated and handed over to families. camped,” added Stedile.
The leader of the movement highlighted that, currently, the MST has 80,000 occupied families.
“Our claim is that the unproductive large estates be expropriated as urgently as possible to solve the problem of camped families and create space for the production of healthy food”, he said.
“It is the obligation of the MST to continue organizing workers so that they fight for their rights”, he added.
The actions promoted by the MST are part of the “April de Lutas”, also called “Red April” – when the movement mobilizes in memory of the death of 19 landless militants by the police of Pará, in Eldorado do Carajás, on April 17 from 1996.
