The Public Ministry of São Paulo (MP-SP) opened an investigation, this Friday (8), to investigate an act of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) at Bayer’s headquarters, in Jacareí, in the interior of the state, on June 10th.
The complaint was made by members of the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), who disclosed the process opened by the authorities.
According to the MST, the demonstration took place by Bayer importing agrotoxic substances into Brazil, such as Rundap, a glyphosate-based herbicide, which poses a risk to human and environmental health.
The entity also cites Bill 6299/2002, which is being processed in the Federal Senate, and facilitates the authorization and commercialization of pesticides in the country. According to the MST, the measure ‘makes harsh changes in current legislation, facilitating the sale and use of substances that are highly toxic to human life and nature.”
The action was still against the government of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), for the release of the products and after the revelation of the 2nd National Survey on Food Insecurity in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Brazil, which pointed to 33 million people starving in the country. country.
“The concentration of land is starving the Brazilian people. The use of land in Brazil for the production of commodities and agricultural products and mining deprives workers of access to land to produce healthy food”, explains the MST.
