PASOK – Movement for Change insists on the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis and condemns Russia’s recognition as an independent state of Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine, a decision that blatantly violates the United Nations Charter, International Law and UN Agreements. A note from the party’s press office also stated that “respect for the territorial integrity and independence of all states is a non-negotiable principle and should be respected by all.”
It also points out that the European Union should take substantial initiatives to resolve the crisis peacefully and return Russia to the negotiating table. “We are not allowed to be mere observers, but active protagonists in the attempt to review the European security architecture,” it said. Regarding the Greek stance, KINAL emphasizes that “Greece should contribute to the de-escalation of the crisis through peaceful means. At the same time, it should ensure the protection of the large Greek minority in the region and be prepared for multiple scenarios.”
