Motorcyclist dies after being hit by BMW while going to work in MS

A young woman, 19 years old, died on her way to work after being hit by a BMW X1 this Sunday (25), in Campo Grande (MS).

THE CNN found that Lucca Assis Mandetta, 26 years old, was driving the vehicle on Marechal Rondon Street, when it collided at an intersection with the Honda Biz motorcycle of Letícia Machado Gonçalves, who was driving on 14 de Julho Street.

At the time of the accident, both the road signs and traffic lights were working normally. According to the police report, the driver of the vehicle, advised by his lawyer, did not take a breathalyzer test.

Lucca told the police that he respected the traffic light and that he only noticed the motorcycle in the collision, and that he was not injured. According to the Civil Police, both drivers involved in the accident are licensed and the vehicles were in good condition.

The young woman’s family’s defense stated that Letícia was studying law and was on her way to the pizzeria where she performed freelance services.

“The road where the accident occurred is very well signposted and monitored entirely by cameras, so we are waiting for the experts to conclude the dynamics of the accident,” the defense stated in a statement.

Lucca’s defense stated that the driver did not show any signs of drunkenness, such as an alcoholic odor or psychomotor changes, and therefore, “it was unnecessary to carry out the test to ‘prove’ what had already been found.”

The driver’s lawyers also stated that the accident was a fatality and that the dynamics will be investigated by the competent authorities.

“Our client remained at the scene of the accident, was cooperative, provided the necessary assistance, as well as clarified the accident before the police authorities,” the defense said in a statement.
