The motorcycle industry kicked off 2023 with the best January in production in nine years.
In total, 122.9 thousand motorcycles were produced last month, which represents a growth of 46.7% compared to the volume of January last year.
The jump is explained by the normalization of production in factories, since, in the last two years, January was marked by pandemic restrictions. In comparison with December, month of collective vacations, production growth was 44.4%.
The numbers were released this Monday (13) by Abraciclo, an entity that represents the automakers installed in the industrial center of Manaus, where the national production of the two-wheel vehicle is concentrated.
It was the best result for the month since 2014, when 146,600 motorcycles left the assembly lines.
“Both the beginning of 2021 and 2022 were marked by the pandemic, which imposed restrictions on the operation of the factories and put a brake on production”, commented the president of Abraciclo, Marcos Fermanian.
“Now, we are accelerating the pace of production to meet the demand that remains high”, he adds.
Abraciclo forecasts, announced last month, point to a growth of 9.7% in the production of motorcycles in the total for this year, with 1.55 million units produced until December.
If the prognosis is confirmed, the motorcycle industry will return to the production level of nine years ago.
