Moscow claimed today that military equipment delivered by Western countries to Ukraine ends up on the arms black market, including in the Middle East.
Some of the weapons delivered to Kyiv “went to the Middle East and also end up on the black market,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in a televised speech.
However, Sergei Shoigu did not provide any concrete evidence to support his claims.
Western deliveries of tanks, artillery and other military equipment to Ukraine have angered Russia, which has invaded its neighbor since February 24 in what Moscow calls a “special military operation”.
Shoigu accused Western countries of having so far delivered more than 28,000 tons of weapons to Ukraine “in the hope of prolonging the war” and bleeding Russia.
After meeting stiff resistance in northern Ukraine and around the capital Kyiv, Russia has concentrated its forces in eastern Ukraine, where it has made significant territorial gains in recent days, including the capture of the city of Lisitsansk.
Following this victory, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops on Monday to continue the offensive in the east, where Moscow aims to take complete control of the Donbass region.
The Russian offensive “will continue until the goals set by the Supreme Commander (S.P. Putin) are fully achieved,” the Russian Defense Minister said today.
