More than 300,000 drivers have signed up to receive taxi assistance, says ministry

According to the Ministry of Labor and Welfare, until last Tuesday (2), 301,505 drivers were registered to receive, by the end of the year, the taxi driver allowance.

The ministry considers that only sending the information is not a guarantee of payment of the benefit, and that the data will be analyzed by Dataprev to identify eligible professionals.

Drivers registered and approved in this first stage (the deadline for submission by city halls ended on Tuesday) will receive the first two installments, up to R$ 1,000 each, on August 16th.

The number of installments and the amount may be adjusted depending on the number of workers approved and the program’s resource limit, which is R$2 billion.

The taxi driver assistance was instituted by the PEC dos Benefits, which decreed a state of emergency in the country and raised government spending by R$ 41.25 billion outside the spending ceiling – and is seen as one of the government’s bets to increase popularity. of President Jair Bolsonaro, candidate for re-election.

The government also published an ordinance that regulates the payment of emergency benefits to truck drivers. According to the ordinance, payments start on the 9th.
