More than 30 municipalities in Mato Grosso declare emergency due to lack of rain

Mato Grosso has 32 municipalities in an emergency situation, 18 of which were declared due to drought and 14 due to drought, according to the most recent data from the State's Civil Defense. The number has been growing since the beginning of the year, when 28 cities that had declared emergency by Tuesday, January 2nd.

In recent days, the municipalities of São José do Rio Claro, Comodoro, Água Boa and Santo Antônio do Leste have also declared an emergency due to lack of rain.

Of the total, two had their emergency approved by the State government, another two are in the recognition phase and 28 municipalities declared an emergency, but did not request state approval, according to Civil Defense.

Recognition of the situation by the State allows municipalities to receive humanitarian aid, while with the approval of the Union, city halls can receive resources to face the drought. State recognition of the emergency situation also allows rural producers to activate the Agricultural Activity Guarantee Program (Proagro).
