More than 200 Republicans sign letter in support of Kamala Harris

More than 200 Republicans have signed a letter supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States. The list includes aides who have worked for prominent party figures such as former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush; former Senator John McCain; and Senator Mitt Romney.

The document was released by the American newspaper USA Today.

The letter is similar to the endorsement that a group of Republicans made to Joe Biden, before the 2020 election. The document tries to convince voters who supported previous Republican presidential candidates to vote for Kamala and prevent former President Donald Trump from being re-elected.

“Of course, we have many ideological differences with the Vice President and Governor Walz. That is to be expected. The alternative, however, is simply untenable,” the letter reads.

“At home, four more years of Donald Trump’s chaotic leadership, this time focused on advancing the dangerous goals of Project 2025, will hurt real, everyday people and weaken our institutions. Abroad, democratic movements will be irreparably damaged as Trump and JD Vance bow to dictators like Vladimir Putin while turning their backs on our allies. We cannot let that happen,” he continued.

Among those who signed the letter are former President George H.W. Bush chief of staff Jean Becker, former McCain chiefs of staff Mark Salter and Christopher Koch, and Olivia Troye, former Homeland Security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence.
