En route to Cuba, a frigate and a nuclear-powered submarine of the Russian Navy conducted exercises in the Atlantic Ocean that included missile tests, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said today. The drills involving the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan and the frigate Admiral Garskov involved firing high-precision missiles at virtual targets at a distance of more than 600 kilometers, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. It was preceded by operational training on the frigate “Admiral Garskov” for repelling an air attack. The nuclear-powered submarine “Kazan” and the frigate “Admiral Garskov” belong to the Russian naval force that will arrive in Cuba tomorrow, Wednesday.
