Miss Universe 2023 contestants resign a few days before the pageant

There is less than a week left to meet the new Miss Universe 2023. However, this year’s event has been embroiled in controversy after the sudden departure of two contestants, who have used social networks to expose their experiences and motives.

Diana Tashimbetova and Kate Alexeeva, representatives of Kazakhstan and Latvia, respectively, exposed the irregular treatment they have received to reach the crown of beauty, choosing to walk away from the promised grand prize to focus on taking care of their mental and physical health.

On December 30, 2022, Diana Tashimbetova, representative of Kazakhstan, used her Instagram account to explain the reasons for her resignation, attacking the organizers and the management of Miss Kazakhstan, which she accused of defaming and manipulating the truth regarding her participation.

I see how you sincerely want and expect me to participate in the 71st edition of the Miss Universe pageant… And I think it is my duty to share with you an unpleasant situation.

The reason why I will not participate is because the organizers and management of Miss Kazakhstan did not provide me with proper training and they withdrew my funding. (Despite the fact that I have already bought a visa, tickets and sewed several evening dresses with my own money). I won’t go into nasty and dirty details about them here, but I do want to say that I received no support from them. On the contrary, there were only oppressions.

The preparation was supposed to bring me pleasure and positive emotions, but it only made me cry… Fortunately, my mother and family supported me, which gave me the motivation to keep going.

I was ready to overcome all the difficulties and do my best, but the organizers did not take responsibility for me and officially announced that they refuse to send me to Miss Universe due to the fact that they do not have time to prepare me, although they themselves I have already been officially introduced as a participant from Kazakhstan.

For her part, Kate Alexeeva, a 28-year-old representative of Latvia, revealed that her sudden departure from the contest was due to serious health problems related to covid-19.

I was diagnosed with covid. Complications followed. At the moment, I am still recovering. I am forced to revoke my participation in Miss Universe this year. I still can’t believe I’m saying this. This decision is made because my health and the health of other contestants and their families is a priority.

At the moment, it is not known if the former contestants will have some kind of commemorative participation in the contest.
