The impasse involving the PEC dos Precatório made the Ministry of Health ask the Ministry of Economy for additional funding to purchase vaccines for 2022.
The amount requested is R$ 1.4 billion for the purchase of 100 million doses of Pfizer’s immunizing agent. The ministry expects the Ministry of Economy to publish this ordinance by next week.
The extra resource must be in the spending ceiling. The money would be needed to guarantee the purchase of the vaccine, which is registered in a document on the estimate of mandatory health expenses sent by the team of Minister Marcelo Queiroga to the Economy.
The priority plan of the Ministry of Health was that, with the approval of the PEC, the folder would close a contract with Pfizer for 2022, since in the opinion of the proposal’s rapporteur, Deputy Hugo Motta (Republicans/PB), the allocation of R is foreseen. $15 billion for Covid-19 vaccination related expenses.
