Milei’s government will need everyone’s support, trust and patience, says former president Macri

Mauricio Macri, former president of Argentina, celebrated the election of Javier Milei as the country’s new commander this Sunday (19) and asked for the support, trust and patience of all Argentines.

“Milei’s new government will need the support, trust and patience of all of us. What will happen will depend on your management and the conviction that we, Argentines, maintain of not giving in to the fight that will mean real change. A spectacular future of growth, work, study and freedom awaits us”, wrote Macri on his X (Twitter) account.

Macri provided fundamental support for the La Libertad Avanza candidate to be elected president. In the text, the former president stated that Milei “knew how to listen to the voice of young people and the tiredness of millions of neglected and impoverished people”.

“The majority of Argentines today expressed themselves strongly, opting for change and rejecting continuity. I congratulate Javier Milei for courageously representing the will to advance and prosper that lives in the hearts of Argentines.”

Economist Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza), 53 years old, was elected president of Argentina this Sunday.

In the second round, he surpassed the government candidate and current Economy Minister, Sergio Massa (Union por la Patria), who had won the first round on October 22.

At 9:21 pm, with 97.4% of the votes counted, Milei had 55.76% of the votes against 44.23% for Massa, who admitted defeat even before the first partial was announced.

Milei will take office on December 10th.

Second place in the first round, Milei managed to reverse the situation this Sunday. A comeback in the second round was a feat that had only been achieved in 2015 by Mauricio Macri.
