Milei says that Brazilian justice is dependent on the PT and that the X blockade is supported by a “tyrant”

Argentine President Javier Milei said this Thursday (5) that Justice in Brazil is “dependent on the PT power” and that blocking access to the social network X can only be supported by a “tyrant”.

The statements were made in a speech during an event in Buenos Aires by the Madrid Forum, an alliance of right-wing forces, which claims to defend “freedom, democracy and the rule of law”.

“Let’s look at Brazil, where the Justice system is dependent on the PT’s power: right now they are banning X, which is nothing more than the public arena, where Brazilian and world citizens can express their voice and express their dissent,” said Milei.

The Argentine president said that the intention of the blockade is to “prohibit the space where citizens freely exchange their ideas”, and asked:
“Who but a tyrant who is wrong in everything can support such an act of oppression?”

Milei took advantage of the subject to criticize journalism in Argentina itself. According to him, “a large part” of the local press cannot stand the “freedom of the networks” and defends the “old Twitter format”. [como era a conhecida a plataforma antes de ser vendida para Elon Musk]” which according to him had “censorship”.

The statements come days after the Argentine president reposted several posts on Musk’s social media, with whom he has met on at least two occasions since coming to power. He even offered to help Musk in his dispute with the Brazilian judiciary.

After the decision to block X, Milei retweeted messages calling President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a “dictator” and comparing him to Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro.

THE CNN contacted the Planalto Palace for comments on the statements, but has not yet received a response.
