Middle East: US calls on Israel to take steps to de-escalate tensions with Palestinians

Her National Security Adviser American Jake Sullivan called for further steps to de-escalate tensions between the Israel and the Palestinians during a telephone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Tchai Hanegbi, the White House announced, amid an upsurge in violence in the West Bank.

This week saw the worst incidents in years in the West Bank.

Mr Sullivan expressed his “sincere condolences to the Israeli people for the terrorist attack by Hamas on June 20” during a meeting with the Israeli government’s national security adviser, while also saying he was “deeply concerned about the recent extremist attacks [ισραηλινών] settlers against Palestinian civilians”according to the newsletter released by the US presidency.
