Microsoft has repeatedly worked to improve certain aspects of Windows for user collaboration, but so far everything is limited to small innovations for OneDrive cloud storage or the Microsoft Teams conferencing application. Designer @zeealeid fantasized about what it would be like if Windows 11 was really created for remote collaboration of several users – he was inspired by solutions from the new macOS Ventura and the Figma service.
First of all, the designer suggests creating a separate pop-up menu for selecting the application that needs to be shared – with this implementation, the user just needs to click on the desired shortcut, copy the connection link and, if necessary, set access rights.
When sharing the application window, a miniature floating menu should appear above it, allowing the host to set up the broadcast: see the list of participants, open a chat, and enable or disable the display of other people’s cursors and voice communication. It is understood that each of the participants will be able to attach comments to selected areas on the screen.
Since Microsoft already has Teams, Windows itself is often touted as a convenient workflow solution, and macOS already has something similar, it’s rather strange that the Redmond giant hasn’t implemented a truly meaningful multi-user collaboration experience yet.
