Mesa São Paulo brings together famous chefs in a series of events in the capital of São Paulo

One of the biggest gastronomic events in Brazil and Latin America arrives in São Paulo between Thursday (3) and Saturday (5) to bring renowned names of national and international gastronomy to the capital of São Paulo in a series of classes, tastings, lectures, a producer fair, congress and special dinners.

With the theme “Kitchen of Hug”, the São Paulo Table 2022 brings together professionals from the sector and lovers of good food around the union of people.

“Historically, the kitchen is the place where people come together to build good things. It is a place to listen to people, not to impose ideas. And it is at the table that all this happens and takes place”, explains Mariella Lazaretti, co-founder of the gastronomy intelligence nucleus Mundo MESA, which organizes the event.

The main occasion takes care of the Latin America Memorial , in Barra Funda. Five grand dinners take place between Tuesday (1) and Saturday in different restaurants and hotels in São Paulo.

Programming with weighted names

There are four main branches of Mesa São Paulo 2022 that take place during the three days of the event at Memorial da América Latina: the lectures by the Table Trends the classes of Live Table It’s from Ember on the Table and also the festival of producers Farofa do Brasil .

In this year, the Table Trends the main gastronomic congress in Latin America, has 43 lectures confirmed in a leaner model of presentations.

Important names of national gastronomy participate in the event as Bel Coelho , Janaína Rueda , Alex Atala , Jefferson Rueda and Roberta Sudbrack .

There is also a confirmed presence of spokespeople for indigenous culture such as Clarinda Ramos , Deborah Shornik , Elisangela Valle and Dora de Fatima Marques Fernandes and Afro-Brazilian culture as Dona Cici de Oxalá , Marlene da Costa and Solange Borges .

Who is also present José Avillez renowned Portuguese chef with 18 houses in his home country, and Marsia Taha Mohamed from Bolivian Gustu named rising chef by Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2021.

already the Live Table invites the public to dozens of practical classes in cooking, baking and confectionery, in addition to tastings of wines, beers, cachaça, gin, teas and coffee.

Around 60 professionals guide the classes and tastings, with names like Elisa Fernandes and Mohammed Hindi ; the italian Nello Cassese , by Cipriani, at Copacabana Palace; the chef couple Kafe and Dante Bassi the Manga restaurant, in Bahia; and Bruno Katz from Bar Chanchada, in Rio de Janeiro.

The Latin America Memorial has a structure with kitchens and rooms for tasting classes – online transmissions are also confirmed.

Classes and tastings also take place with the Ember on the Table a module entirely dedicated to meats, which involves learning about deboning, charcuterie, cuts and smoking.

Packages are sold separately and include three days of classes with renowned roasters in the country, such as Ligia Karazawa Japanese Barbecue Specialist, Edvaldo Caribé and Leo Modesto who command the barbecue in pairs, and the Pernambuco Beethoven Picuí .

Simultaneously with the classes and lectures, the Farofa do Brasil Festival , open to the general public with free admission. The festival brings artisanal producers from various states of the country to the capital of São Paulo and dozens of food stalls at popular prices.

In addition to gastronomy, the festival plans a series of cultural attractions of music and dance.

Farofa do Brasil also has a special shed dedicated to gastronomic routes in the state of São Paulo, where the public sees producers of olive oil, goat’s milk, mushrooms, wines, fruits, honey, coffee and also come across cheese factories, stills, bakeries, breweries and fishing communities.

Grand dinners

Parallel to the general event, they also take place around the city special dinners with exclusive menus executed by renowned chefs from Brazil and abroad.

From the 1st to the 5th of November, five houses in São Paulo open their doors to welcome guests and guest chefs around haute cuisine – dinners are sold separately and have limited seats.

Filipe Rizzato of Tangara Jean Georges restaurant on the ground floor of Palácio Tangará, opens the season this Tuesday (1) alongside the chefs Rubens Catarina , Marsia Taha , Marcelo Ballardin , Ivan Brehm and Elisa Fernandes .

Wednesday (2) is marked by dinner at the evvai in Luiz Filipe Souza which welcomes the German-Brazilian chef couple Kafe and Dante Bassi like this Tuca Mezzomo , Nello Cassesse and Rafael Cagali.

O Grand Hyatt, on Avenida das Nações Unidas, welcomes Portuguese José Avillez , Leo Passion , Katia Barbosa and Dário Costa with the hosts William Torres and Fernando Welter respectively sous chef and pastry chef at the hotel’s restaurant.

under command of Onildo Rocha, O news of Priceless Space in the center of the capital, opens its doors on Friday (4th) for a tasting menu that brings together the pastry chef Saiko Izawa , Helena Rizzo , Rodrigo Oliveira , Deborah Shornik , Felipe Schaedle belgian reo Herve Witmeur.

The program ends on Saturday with the chef Telma Shiraishi at the Aizome from Japan House . The chefs join her Alessandra Montagne, Tássia Magalhães, Roberta Sudbrack and Giovanna Grossi.
