Two men were arrested this Friday afternoon (5) by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), after a chase and shooting on Avenida Brasil, near Santa Cruz, in the West Zone of Rio, close to the Rio-Santos Highway. The suspects' car ended up falling into a river after colliding with a structure during their escape attempt. Nobody was injured.
One of the men was arrested while still inside the car. The other tried to hide in the woods, but ended up being found. According to initial information, the suspects were linked to the militia. The case will be investigated by the Office for the Repression of Organized Criminal Actions and Special Inquiries. Three rifles, magazines, ballistic vest and ammunition were seized from them.

According to the PRF, corporation agents attempted to approach the duo's vehicle. As the driver did not respect the order to stop, a chase ensued. Videos and reports circulating on social media show that there was an exchange of gunfire during the incident.
On the 24th, nine people were injured during a shootout on Avenida Brasil, near Bonsucesso, in the North Zone. According to the Military Police, at the time, agents saw a car leaving Complexo da Maré and ordered it to stop. The occupants of the vehicle responded by opening fire on the police officers. Three vehicles traveling in the region were hit.
