Meloni: ‘The center-left has a problem with Sweden-Finland joining NATO’

The president of the far-right “Brothers of Italy” party, Giorgia Meloni, referred to her election campaign tonight in an interview with the Italian television channel Rete 4, belonging to the Berlusconi group.

“Italy’s international positioning is key. Our party took a stand immediately, supporting the foreign policy of the Draghi government,” Meloni said. “In this matter we have no problem, the facts prove it. We voted in favor of validating the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO. Those who have a problem are not us, but the center-left,” added the leader of the “Brothers of Italy” “.

“They say that if we win, a government will be formed that will hurt freedoms, that Europe and Italy will explode. When abroad they write these things, they don’t hurt me, but my whole country,” the Italian politician said.

And she, however, admitted that the current phase is particularly critical for Italy. In more detail, he told Rete 4: “As a country, we are clearly going through a particularly complicated phase. Calling elections in September is not something usual, I do not hide that I would prefer that the entire legislative period could be completed normally.”

The leader of the “Brothers of Italy” said she was confident that the center-right and her party would win an absolute majority of seats in parliament and made it clear (also responding to her allies) that “the new governing group, will be chosen based on the election result, with respect to the voters”.
