Meghan Markle, 42, is back, and with her, her glow and the makeup artist behind it, Daniel Martin, 51.
The Duchess of Sussex reunited with her longtime friend and makeup artist after an apparent two-year hiatus at Thursday’s Espy Awards. Often described as her “best friend” and “guncle,” a portmanteau of gay-uncle Archie and Lilibet, Daniel Martin has been by Meghan Markle’s side throughout the Duchess’s royal reign.
The celebrity makeup artist made history when he did Meghan’s makeup for her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018 – and has worked alongside her at various events in her two years as a royal.
Daniela Martin, according to her Instagram posts, is known to collaborate with many stars, including Rachel McAdams, Nicola Coughlan, Olivia Munn, Ali Wong, Maya Rudolph. Perhaps the last time Daniel and Meghan were in the makeup chair together was in May 2022, when Meghan and Harry visited the Netherlands for the Invictus Games.
That there is a rekindling of the flame between the two and that he is the author of Meghan’s most recent glow can be deduced from a post that Daniel Martin himself published on his Instagram profile with the comment: «There she glows».

According to gossip and as reported by the Daily Mail the two are said to have drifted apart after she did her own hair and makeup during her quasi-royal tour of Nigeria last May, where she and her husband went to support charities close to their Archwell Foundation. Daniel Martin, however, recognizes Meghan’s excellent grooming skills and in this regard, as reported by the tabloid, he declared: “In Nigeria, she’s really her. There’s no stylist, there’s no hairdresser. She does it all herself and she’s so good at it. I mean, she likes a little blush. She loves to put makeup on her cheeks and have big eyebrows,”
The reunion comes as a surprise to royal fans after the pair appeared not to have worked together for two years, despite Daniel claiming he was “in touch with her all the time.”
