Megafon dramatically increased the speed of the Internet in the hope of attracting more users. Pre-5G option introduced

The telecom operator Megafon has increased the speed of the Internet for owners of maximum tariff plans in the hope of attracting more customers.

Tariff plans “Maximum”, VIP and “Premium” received the pre-5G option, which increases the usual Internet speed by up to 30%. Owners of other tariffs will be able to activate the option for 399 rubles per month.

When LTE became available, the technologies used in it could also be used to improve the quality of the previous 3G standard. The same goes for the 5G standard. So far, it has not yet been widely used in Russia, but the technologies tested on this standard can improve the quality of communication and traffic management in the LTE standard. Using additional technologies, we can minimize the impact of interference and intelligently manage traffic. We can separate subscribers through different channels so that they do not interfere with each other. A large frequency resource complements our capabilities and gives more flexibility in control, allowing you to increase the speed where it is needed.

According to Ookla, Megafon has the fastest mobile internet in Russia. The average download speed is more than 50% faster than the nearest competitor, MTS (32.92 Mbps vs. 21.7 Mbps).

We have made pre-5G a separate option that customers with any consumption will be able to use if there is a need for a higher speed, which will allow a reasonable approach to spending, and the operator, wisely using the frequency resource, will be able to offer a service that meets expectations as much as possible.

Director of product marketing “MegaFon” Dmitry Rudskikh.

It is also reported that cheap and old phones do not support all technologies, so the effect of using pre-5G may not be as pronounced on them.
