Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Barvitsiotis met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Greece, Matthew Lodz.
The discussion focused on the situation in Ukraine, the Ireland / Northern Ireland Protocol, and the European Union’s Enlargement Policy to the Western Balkans. In addition, ways were discussed to further strengthen Greek-British relations in the post-BREXIT era, based on the Strategic Cooperation Plan Greece – United Kingdom, but also to upgrade the way citizens enter the two countries, by providing facilities at the bilateral level.
Finally, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that despite the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, the two countries remain allies and friends, concluding that “the role of the United Kingdom remains particularly important for our region.”
