Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Rome. According to a statement from the Italian government, Meloni reaffirmed her country’s commitment to support the observance of the ceasefire in Lebanon, also referring to Italy’s key role, through the Unifil mission and as head of the Technical and Military Commission for the Lebanon, whose mission is to coordinate the provision of international support to the Lebanese armed forces. In today’s meeting, the situation in Syria was also discussed. The Italian Prime Minister underlined the need to preserve the unity and territorial integrity of the country, as well as the importance of ensuring the protection of minorities and an inclusive approach.
