The Notable Award CNN Brazil 2022 reaches its 2nd edition recognizing initiatives that made a difference in 2021 and that deserve to be highlighted.
In this edition, the award highlighted stories —and their characters— offering the opportunity to impact thousands of people through dissemination on all platforms of the CNN Brazil. Ten different categories honored innovative initiatives.
The Notable Award CNN Brazil was created in 2020 to encourage other actions that make a difference in the search for a better world. The first edition awarded nine categories of positive actions that stood out during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s edition also featured a concert by singer Vanessa da Mata. The award included the presentation of the anchors of CNN Brazil Márcio Gomes, Luciana Barreto, Phelipe Siani, Mari Palma, Daniel Adjuto and Gabriela Prioli.
“It takes work to do the right thing, it takes work to inspire others because you have to dedicate yourself to certain actions, areas and sectors. An award like this is recognizing these people, the work they have and the dedication they have to doing what is right, what is correct, what can be inspiring and that is remarkable”, says Márcio Gomes.
The jury was composed of people from different sectors, who are references in their respective areas of expertise.
“With this award, the CNN brings light to many new talents. And that’s what we did, as judges, we thanked the previous year’s winners and brought to light new talents that deserve to be noted”, said businesswoman Rachel Maia, one of the award’s judges.
In this edition, it was possible not only to recognize, but also to applaud the winners in person. The award ceremony took place at the Latin America Memorial, in São Paulo, and was attended by several guests.

The NGOs were having a lot of difficulty and we thought about how to help, so the idea of installing solar panels came up. It is an important social issue, energy is a cost for these NGOs. We started with four projects and we know that this will help to propel us to more projects. I thank and congratulate CNN. This award will be a booster for us at BV to help our country in the development”, said Soares.
Education: All for Education
In the Education category, which had as finalists Eduque Bem, Todos pela Educação and Microsoft, Todos pela Educação was the winner. The award was received by the executive president and co-founder Priscila Cruz, who spoke about the importance of the topic during the pandemic and for the future of Brazilian society.
“2020 and 2021 were difficult years for Brazilian public education. From one hour to the next schools closed, viruses, omission, denialism, but society fought and resisted. The public school is a success story, it is this school that trains 90% of the students, of our children and young people. If we want to have any chance of being a more democratic country, we need quality education,” he said.
“If we don’t help these students to choose where they want to go, we have failed as a society”, concluded Priscila.

In the Personality of the Year category, which had as finalists Edu Lira, Father Júlio Lancellotti and the doctor Ludhmila Hajjar, the winner was Father Júlio, who serves the homeless population in São Paulo and gained even more notoriety by serving this population during the pandemic from Covid-19
“With emotion, I thank each and everyone, and the CNN for this recognition, for making remarkable those who are only seen when they are uncomfortable, when they are at the door of shops, churches, and who face hostile architecture. How many of them couldn’t get in here, wouldn’t even make it to the door,” he said.
“Notice the LGBTQIA+ people who are on the streets, the men and women who don’t have access to safety, clean hygiene, water. There are also trans men and women who are rejected and abandoned.
