Medvedev: Deliveries of Israeli weapons to Ukraine would destroy Russia-Israel relationship

Strict message to Israel with the aim of not handing over weapons to Ukraine, the former president of Russia and current vice president of the Russian Security Council sent on Monday (17/10) Dmitry Medvedev stressing that such a thing would “destroy” the relationship with Russia.

“Israel seems ready to hand over arms to the Kiev regime. It is a very reckless measure. It will destroy all interstate relations between our countries,” he estimated on his account in the Telegram application, as reported by the Athens News Agency.

The former president of Russia and current vice president of the Russian Security Council repeated accusations of “Nazism” referring to Ukraineone of the reasons put forward by Moscow in order to justify its attack on its neighboring country.

Responding to an AFP question about these statements, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said for his part that his office would not comment on Medvedev’s statements.

Ukraine has previously called on Israel to support it against Russia, and Israeli and Russian authorities maintain close relations.

Israeli authorities have so far limited their cooperation with Ukraine to humanitarian aid and deliveries of non-lethal material in order to preserve their relationship with Moscow.

Israel has also become a haven for Kremlin opponents, with even Russian celebrities taking up residence there after Russia’s February 24 invasion of Ukraine.
