They meet after Ruby witnesses a secret from James’s sister, Lydia, and he tries to bribe her not to share what he saw. From then on, they start to tease each other, but end up getting closer and falling in love.
However, James’ father is against the romance and threatens to expose Ruby’s family secrets and ruin her chances of going to Oxford.
