Matheus Nachtergaele 56, was the great honoree of the 52nd Gramado Film Festival which took place on Saturday night (10), in the city of Rio Grande do Sul. On the screens with “Reborn “, the actor received the Oscarito Trophy the highest honor of the award.
Nachtergaele, who is also a director, screenwriter and author, gained notoriety when he played the iconic character João Grilo in the film “O Auto da Compadecida” (2000), alongside the actor Selton Mello (Chicó). His career began at the Antunes Filho Theater Research Center and at the Teatro da Vertigem company, with the play “The Book of Job”, in 1995. His film debut was in the film “Anahy de las Misiones”, directed by Sérgio Silva.
At the last edition of the Gramado Film Festival, Nachtergaele was immortalized on the city’s Walk of Fame. In 2024, he will return to the role of João Grilo with “O Auto da Compadecida 2”, scheduled to premiere on December 25.
At this year’s edition, in addition to receiving the honor from the festival’s curator Marcos Santuário, Nachtergaele took the opportunity to meet fans and take photos with the festival’s audience, as he walked the red carpet. See the photos in the gallery above.
About the 52nd Gramado Film Festival
The 52nd Gramado Film Festival began on Friday (9) and will run until August 17. The film by Karim Ainouz , “Motel Destino” shown at Cannes, opened the festival. In addition, the first episode of the series “City of God: The Fight Does Not Stop” had a special screening at the event.
