Women today have very little to celebrate. The facts say it: in Italy the female employment rate is the lowest among the European Union states, equal to 55 percent, against the 69.3 percent of the European average (the data are from the Chamber of Deputies). There are around 9.5 million women who work, much fewer than men (13 million). And they have one lower paycheckeven when the tasks are the same: according to the INPS Observatory on private sector employees, female workers in the private sector they earn almost 8 thousand euros less than their male colleagues. One woman in 5 (Inapp-Plus data) resigns from her job after the birth of her child, because she is forced to choose between family and career. Every single day, then, according to State Police data, well 85 women are victims of crime – mistreatment in the family, stalking, sexual violence – often at the hands of those who say they love them: in 39% of cases the husband or partner, in 30% the ex-partner.

March 8 has lost its festive connotation, and today International Women's Day is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women, raise public awareness of gender equality and promote the fight for women's rights. It is a global movement of solidarity, which challenges gender stereotypes and demonstrates that women are protagonists of change and the struggle for autonomy. Today women take to the streets to demand the right to health, abortion and safety at work, and to fight against cuts to social, health and educational services, which make them more exposed to exploitation and violence.
Not One Less has organized demonstrations and marches throughout Italy, as can be seen from the movement's social pages. And remember that «in the 24 hours of March 8th all workers in the public and private sector they can strike because there is general union coverage».
But who can't join the strike he can «dress in black and wear something fuchsiatalk about the strike with colleagues, customers, users, characterize the workplace with information materials, practice partial forms of strike: don't answer the phone, only do what you are actually paid for, do everything extremely slowly and apply all the regulations to the letter so as to work as little as possible.” Not One Less also invites to abstain from care work (“Those who have the greatest load of domestic work on their shoulders stop and abstain, making their contribution and their demands visible, towards a more just consideration and collaboration”) and refuse «to do everything that you feel is imposed on you based on your gender, at home and at work».
