South by Southwest, better known as SXSW, takes place annually in March, in Austin, in the United States and is considered one of the biggest technology, music, innovation and culture events in the world, also bringing attractions from different countries.
In 2024, SXSW takes place March 8-16. The event was founded in 1987 with a series of long discussions about the future of entertainment and media. Since then, he has been responsible for bringing iconic lectures, films and shows marked in the memory of the event.
This year, some Brazilians are confirmed to participate in the event. This is the case with the rapper Marcelo D2 who for SXSW, “is a central figure in contemporary Brazilian music, uniquely combining the robust beats of rap with the intricate allure of samba.”

Bia Ferreira
Bia Ferreira is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and activist who defines her music as “MMP — Música de Mulher Preta”. Her songs are against racism, homophobia, feminism, love, politics and other issues. At the event, she will perform on March 13th.
Dani Gurgel & Debora Gurgel
Dani Gurgel's scattered vocals are stitched along Debora Gurgel's left-hand piano grooves, putting jazz improvisation into Brazilian rhythms. Both will be present at SXSW on March 14th.
Dendê & Band
Dendê is a percussionist, singer, composer, teacher and multi-instrumentalist. He has been a professional musician since he was 14 years old, when he performed in the front line of Timbalada, Carlinhos Brown's band. Since 2001, he has divided his time between the United States and Bahia, working with his own ensembles. Its presentation is scheduled for March 12th.
DJ Nyack
Dj Nyack has already collected moments of national and international recognition. Since 2007 he has accompanied the rapper Emicida, as well as being part of other successful projects such as Discopédia and the EP “Mundo” with singer Luedji Lun. His panel at SXSW takes place on March 16th.
Glue Trip
Glue Trip is a musical project led by Brazilian musician Lucas Moura. Formed in 2013 as an experimental recording project, they were quickly invited to perform live. With three albums released and viral hits such as “Elbow Pain” and “La Edad del Futuro”; Glue Trip has become a reference for contemporary Brazilian psychedelic music in Brazil and around the world.
The group will perform at the event on March 15th.
Jhama
Jhama is a singer, hitmaker and nationally recognized actor from the Vidigal favela in Rio de Janeiro, and his talent propelled him to the forefront of Brazilian pop music. His career began more than 12 years ago, where he improved his skills as a member of the group Trio Ternura, scoring hits such as “Fases do amor” and “Se liga na Preta”.

Ninth
Born in Rio de Janeiro, sent to London: Nonô has an urban beach style and alongside her band, they mix electronic and pop music with Brazilian funk and Hip Hop. She performs at SXSW on March 15.
Popess
On the 13th and 16th of March it will be possible to discover the work of Papisa, Rita Oliva. She is a singer, songwriter and producer who explores the connections between Brazilian music and dreamy, psychedelic indie pop.
Tagua Tagua
Last but not least, we have Tagua Tagua, which is led by composer and producer Felipe Puperi. Their first LP interweaves tropical psychedelia and the influence of funk and soul while being dominated by flexible melodies and dreamlike timbres. Its presentation is scheduled for March 15th.
It is also worth mentioning that according to information on the event's official website, Wagner Moura will participate in a panel about the film “Civil war” an international feature film that features the Brazilian in the cast.
Along with the protagonist Kirsten Dunst the director Alex Garland and the actress Cailee Spaeny (also part of the cast), the star will be present at a panel that takes place on March 15th.
