The actor Marcello Antony 59, stated, this Sunday (16), that he did not abandon his acting career for acting as Realtor in Portugal.
“The news is that I abandoned my career, that I threw it in the trash. No! I’m going to be an actor until I die, until I’m old. It’s a profession that allows me to work like this”, he said in an interview on Leda Nagle’s YouTube channel.
Antony has lived in Portugal for six years. He moved to the country to record the soap opera “Valor da Vida” and decided not to return to Brazil.
In this Sunday’s interview, he commented that he was already working in the luxury real estate area without pay, helping friends who were moving to the country find apartments, when he was invited by a friend who works as a broker.
“I saw a very good opportunity, since I live in Portugal and I knew brokers who work in a powerful agency around the world”, revealed the actor.
However, Antony commented that he did not expect such a huge repercussion due to the news, and that many people interpreted his move to another area of work as something negative. “A heartthrob Globo actor who is now a broker. The subtext is: today he is on the corner, asking for money, for alms”, he said in the interview.
Antony’s last work on Brazilian TV was in the youth soap opera “Malhação: Viva a Diferença” (Globo), between 2017 and 2018. Before that, he was in productions such as “O Rei do Gado” (Globo, 1996) , “Senhora do Destino” (Globo, 2004-2005) and “Amor à Vida” (Globo, 2013).
