Former player Marcelinho Carioca was rescued by the police in Itaquaquecetuba, in Greater São Paulo. The former athlete arrived at the police station in a Military Police vehicle. Corporation agents who accompanied the former player told CNN that he was in captivity.
Before being released, a video circulated on social media in which the former player appears with a black eye and saying that he was kidnapped after having a relationship with a married woman.
“I was at a show in Itaquera, enjoying samba, and I went out with a married woman. Her husband caught me, kidnapped me and that was the police report”, declared Marcelinho in the video.
Police chief Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves confirmed the veracity of the video, but stated that he did not yet have details about the case.
The case
Marcelinho disappeared on Sunday, after leaving singer Thiaguinho’s show at the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera, east of São Paulo.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, three suspects were arrested by the Military Police in the region where a vehicle was found abandoned today (18), in Itaquaquecetuba. Also according to the SSP, the Automated Fingerprint Identification System was activated to investigate the circumstances and identify those involved.
When found by the police, Marcelinho had a t-shirt wrapped around his head. He arrived in a police vehicle in Itaquaquecetuba.
