In the state of Utah, a special generating plant with a capacity of 280 kW was launched, which runs on “garbage” methane. To achieve this, Marathon Digital has entered into a partnership with Nodal Power, which is developing the appropriate installations.
“This project is part of a broader initiative being carried out by the company. We are testing the ability to capture methane released from landfills, generate electricity from it, and use it to power mining equipment. If the results of the pilot project meet our expectations, we hope to expand our presence in this area and help landfill operators achieve their environmental goals,” said Fred Thiel, CEO of Marathon Digital.
In July, Marathon Digital shareholders accused the company’s management of embezzling funds.
