The hazy image has become routine in Manaus. This Wednesday (11), the city was covered in dense smoke.
According to data from the Electronic Environmental Surveillance System (Selva), the air quality is considered terrible in several parts of the city.
According to the state’s Civil Defense, in the period from July 12th to October 9th, more than 2000 fires have already been fought.
Currently, the Government of Amazonas has the support of four aircraft to intensify firefighting. One was provided by the government of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul; another by the government of the Federal District, as well as an aircraft provided by the Navy, and another belonging to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP/AM).
At the beginning of October, 23 agents from the National Center for the Prevention and Combat of Forest Fires (Prevfogo), from the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Natural Resources (Ibama) arrived in Amazonas.
These agents will contribute to the ongoing actions of the Amazonas Fire Department, especially in combating fires in the Metropolitan Region of Manaus (RMM).
