Federal prison guard Jorge José da Rocha Guaranho was discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Ministro Costa Cavalcanti Hospital, in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná. Preventively arrested and in police custody, he remains in an infirmary bed at the hospital, according to sources from the Civil Police of Paraná.
THE CNN found that Guaranho is conscious and does not use vasoactive and sedative drugs.
Although the condition remained stable, he was extubated and underwent a tracheostomy (procedure to facilitate breathing). The patient breathes spontaneously, without devices.
In a note, the Itaiguapy Health Foundation, which manages the Ministro Costa Cavalcanti Hospital, reported that “by institutional rule, in line with the current norms of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), it does not provide public information on patients admitted to the hospital. . Therefore, any information regarding the medical records or clinical condition of patients cannot be provided for reasons of confidentiality. Official information may be passed on daily to the competent bodies, as soon as it is officially requested, according to legal means.
Sought, Guaranho’s defense spoke out saying that “at the request of the family, we understand for good not to pass on any type of information about Jorge’s clinical condition. This is to preserve his physical integrity. So we understand for good not to pass on any type of information in this regard”, said lawyer Poliana Lemes Cardoso.
Marcelo Arruda was buried on Monday (11) at Jardim São Paulo Cemetery, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), with a great commotion from family and friends. The body was taken in procession through the city center in a Municipal Guard car. Arruda worked in the corporation for 28 years.
Arruda was affiliated with the PT, treasurer and was a candidate for deputy mayor of the city of Paraná in 2020. According to a police report registered at the time, he was shot dead during his 50th birthday party by Guaranho, who is a prison guard federal government and supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The celebration was interrupted by Guaranho who, according to witnesses, would have shouted “here is Bolsonaro”, before starting to shoot.
Guaranho fired the first two shots, hitting the victim. Images from a security camera show when Arruda, even injured and already down, shoots the prison guard. Guaranho, who had his preventive detention decreed, was hospitalized in serious condition.
The Civil Police of Paraná ruled out political motivation in the murder of the municipal guard. This Tuesday (19), the Justice of Paraná determined that the investigation that indicted the criminal police officer for the death of the militant be returned to the Civil Police to carry out new steps, including the analysis and expertise of security camera images and the new testimony from one of the directors of the place where the crime took place.
