Petrobras employee Bruno Lima da Costa Soares, 34, shot during the hijacking of a bus at Rodoviária Novo Rio, was transferred this Wednesday (13), to a private hospital.
He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), in a condition considered critical, but stable, at the National Institute of Cardiology, which is located in the Laranjeiras neighborhood, in the South Zone of the city.
According to the municipal health secretary of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Soranz, the patient underwent a second procedure at the National Institute of Cardiology (INC) and the projectile that was previously lodged close to the heart, changed position, “as the patient remained stable 24 hours after surgery, he can be transferred to a private hospital under his health insurance plan”, he states.
According to the director of the INC, Dr. Aurora Issa, the victim of the kidnapping was evaluated by a medical team to find out whether or not a second surgery would be necessary for the patient.
“It is a surgery that may or may not be a major surgery, but he could possibly undergo a less invasive procedure. That’s what we’re evaluating,” he said.
According to Issa, in some cases, when the risk of carrying out a procedure is greater than that offered by the lodged projectile, the patient can continue their life without removing the bullet. However, as Bruno is young and has no pre-existing illnesses, the possibility of him undergoing further surgery is greater.
The victim was transferred at night in a private ambulance. She was taken to a Samaritano Hospital, which is in the Botafogo neighborhood, also in the South Zone. Two ambulances were used. Being an advanced ICU.
When he was admitted in serious condition to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, in the center of Rio, on the day of the kidnapping, Bruno Lima da Costa was shot in the chest and abdomen. He stayed in the operating room for around 5 hours and received six bags of blood. On the night of the kidnapping he was transferred to the National Institute of Cardiology.
